REROUTE ON SUNDAY, MAY 21: Honolulu Ekiden Relay

On Sunday, May 21, Waikiki Trolley will bypass stops on the Blue and Green lines to make way for the Honolulu Ekiden Relay. We apologize for any inconveniences and appreciate your understanding. Here are the reroute details:

BLUE LINE

START REROUTE OR BYPASS DETAILS END
8:56 a.m. Hanauma Bay lookout will be bypassed. 11 a.m.
9:16 a.m. Halona Blow Hole lookout will be bypassed. 11 a.m.
9:51 a.m. Hawaii Kai lookout will be bypassed. 11 a.m.

GREEN LINE

START REROUTE OR BYPASS DETAILS END
7:45 a.m. Honolulu Zoo (Stop 4) will be bypassed. 12:10 p.m.
7:48 a.m. Waikiki Aquarium (Stop 5) will be bypassed. 12:13 p.m.
7:53 a.m. Diamond Head Surf Lookout (Stop 6) will be bypassed.

 

12:18 p.m.

More than 3,000 runners will participate in the Honolulu Ekiden Relay, which will span the geographic area between Kapiolani Park and Sandy Beach. Traffic lanes will close starting at 4 a.m.

The race – sponsored by the Honolulu Ekiden Foundation – is a 26.2-mile relay course divided into six legs. It ends with an evening music festival, featuring U.S. band Gin Blossoms, Japanese songwriter and singer Piko Taro, Japanese rock band FLOW, and reggae and hip-hop group Dirty Heads.
