Beginning Saturday, Aug. 6, Waikiki Trolley Red Line will stop at SALT OUR KAKA’AKO (Stop 14) on the corner of Keawe and Auahi streets and one block north of Ala Moana Boulevard. SALT replaces the stop at Ward Warehouse, scheduled to close in August for demolition and new construction.
The Red Line will make 10 daily stops at SALT OUR KAKA’AKO with the following schedule:
SALT At Our Kaka’ako houses 85,000 square feet of stores and restaurants with a hip, urban vibe. While you’re there, visit these restaurants: Highway Inn, serving local comfort foods; Lanikai Juice, featuring healthy smoothies and acai bowls; Hank’s Haute Dogs, famous for gourmet sausages; and Moku Kitchen, a farm-to-table restaurant with slashed prices during Happy Hour.
SALT is located in a hip, urban area of Honolulu known for industrial warehouses, art galleries and luxury, high-rise condos. It is also within walking distance of POW! WOW! murals and artwork splashed across the exterior of buildings in Kaka’ako.
Waikiki Trolley Red Line, dubbed “The Historic Tour,” services passengers at 17 stops in urban Honolulu. Some other highlights along the Red Line include the Honolulu Museum of Art, housing art exhibits from all over the globe; Iolani Palace, the only royal palace in the United States; Foster Botanical Garden, featuring rare tropical plants; Honolulu Coffee, serving fresh roasted coffees and café fare; Chinatown, where you can find art galleries, open-air markets and authentic Chinese foods; Ala Moana Center, the world’s largest open-air shopping mall; and Ward Centre, a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood of stores, restaurants and a movie theater.
