Hawaii is a cultural melting pot of people from all over the world and one thing that brings all cultures together is food. In Hawaii our favorite grain is rice. It is a staple in our most popular dishes like the spam musubi, plate lunch and of course sushi.
The main goal this event is to bring awareness to Lanakila Meals on Wheels, a much needed community program that helps feed Hawaii’s hungry seniors. They will be accepting monetary and rice donations at the Lanakila Pacific booth.
While at Rice Fest enjoy performances at the festival stage include taiko drum, hula, and ukulele. You can also participate in several eating competitions like the fastest at eating two poke bowl or how many Spam Musubi can you eat in 5 minutes. Eating competitions not quite your speed? Leisurely enjoy your own musubi or poke bowl from one of the many food trucks.
