When on vacation finding an amazing cup of coffee is a must. It’s a great way to start your day or the perfect midday pick me up. Everyone at Waikiki Trolley loves a good cup of joe and finding our top coffee shops was no easy task. After much deliberation we now present you with a shortlist of our favorite coffee shops. Don’t take our word for it, hop on and hop the Trolley at any of these amazing spots.
Gorilla in the Cafe
Gorilla in the Cafe in Waikiki
Owned by Korean Actor, Bae Yong Joon, Gorilla In The Cafe is a spin off of the Korean restaurant Gorilla In the Kitchen. From farm to cup Gorilla In The Cafe is one of the only coffee shops serving 100% coffee from Hawaii. (OR Gorilla in the Cafe uniquely sells coffee from Hawaii and they are the only cafe in Hawaii that sells temple coffee.) Try the coffee black and enjoy the subtle flavors or try their honey latte for a sweet treat. All lines of the Waikiki Trolley stop at T Galleria which is right down the street of Gorilla In The Cafe.
Along the New Red Line is the shopping center SALT. Kakaako is trendy new friendly neighborhood that celebrates Hawaiian culture. Salt gets its name from the ancient wetlands where Kakaako now is, there were pa‘akai (salt) ponds that dotted the landscape. There are two amazing coffee shops in the area 9 Bar HNL and Morning Brew.
9 Bar in SALT Kakaako
9 Bar HNL is a fancy coffee shop with a modern industrial atmosphere ran by passionate coffee lovers and foodies. 9 Bar’s name comes from the 9 bars of pressure it takes to make the perfect shot of espresso. Try their nitro cold brew or the Cloud 9 Trio it’s a shot of espresso, cortado and sparking POG (Pineapple Orange Guava) juice.
Morning Brew in SALT Kakaako
Morning Brew is a friendly coffee shop that prides itself on tasty, healthy food and fresh organic coffee. Try the single brew pour overs with local coffee from Kona, Waialua, Maui or Volcano. The blended raspberry mocha is a Waikiki Trolley favorite. Morning Brew is not just a coffee spot but it’s a great place to eat breakfast they offer sweet, savory and even vegan options.
Island Vintage Coffee
Island Vintage Coffee at Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center
Celebrating multiculturalism and inclusivity since 1996, Island Vintage Coffee is a coffee favorite for locals and tourists. Island Vintage Coffee specializes in 100% Kona coffee and roasts their own beans in house daily. They have several locations along the Waikiki Trolley in Waikiki and in Ala Moana. The main location in Waikiki is on the second floor of the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center above the Royal Grove across the street from our main depot at the T Galleria. Island Vintage Coffee in Ala Moana Shopping Center is located on the first floor right by the Center Stage, you can get here on the Pink Line.
