Your experience can vary greatly depending on the driver/guide, and take (rush hour) traffic into account when planning. Just the ride took us about 3 hours due to traffic. Our ride from Chinatown was pretty crowded, and we had to stand our way back to Waikiki.
We rode the Red Line on 09/25/2026 by catching it at the Twin Fin station at 1:06 PM. The driver/guide didn’t explain things very well. She was inaudible under the engine noise and her narratives didn’t feel like they were rehearsed well. By the time we passed the museum of art, we gave up listening, and we got off the trolley to try another driver at the Chinatown stop. The next driver was much better, and he shared interesting stories about the last kingdom, colonization by corporate magnets, and the culture on the island. I really appreciated it. However, he was late by about 45 minutes (arrived at 3:40-ish at the Chinatown stop, instead of 2:55) due to Waikiki/Honolulu traffic. Can’t blame him, but it certainly diminished the experience.

We took the Pearl Harbour Tour with transfer and Kimo was our guide. Travelling through Oahu Kimo was very informative giving knowledge of Oahu.
The sites and buildings we visited around Oahu were rich with history and having Kimo speak of himself and extended family, you know your with the right guide. As a local, he shared an incredible amount of knowledge about the island's history. From the simple facts about Hawaiian alphabet, what side of the head females wear the flower and the different lei's to the kings, culture and political history.
He played the ukulele whilst waiting for the last passengers to arrive.
You can tell Kimo loves to share his knowledge with all tourists.
I would definitely book another tour with Kimo, and wish I had him for our circle Island Tour.

Tour guide/driver is knowledgeable and made the drive to Pearl Harbor so much fun!! Picked up direct from our hotel, which made it easy. 5-star tour guide company!

Oli took me out to Pearl Harbour today, this was a 45 yr bucket list item. Despite being a ww2 buff, he told the bus information I didn't know. Full of energy from start to finish, an incredible orator, who made the day special. Thank you Oli for an imcredible day. Jannette from New Zealand
